Joel E. Bernstein-
Founding Partner |
|
Joel E.
Bernstein was raised in Winthrop,
Massachusetts, and attended the University
of Massachusetts where he received
a B.B.A degree in 1976. He attended
the University of Miami School of Law
where he was awarded his Juris Doctor
degree, with honors, in 1980. Joel
is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Since his admission to the Florida
Bar in 1980, Joel's practice has been
in insurance defense. His work has focused
on the defense of general liability matters,
including insurance coverage matters,
automobile accident claims, uninsured
motorist claims, personal injury protection
claims, product liability claims, construction
defect claims, Coverage B issues, premises
liability claims, errors and omissions
claims and defense of liquor liability
claims.
Joel is a member of the Florida Bar
and is admitted to practice before the
United States District Court for the
Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
In addition, he is a member of the American
Bar Association, the Dade County Bar
Association, the Broward County Bar Association,
the South Florida Claims Association,
the Fort Lauderdale Claims Association,
the Florida Defense Lawyers Association
and the Defense Research Institute. He
is also involved in many community activities.
Joel and his wife, Lisa, have two sons, Brian
and Daniel. They reside in Hollywood, Florida.
Joel is an avid jogger and enjoys sports. |

Steven J. Chackman- Founding Partner |
|
Steven J.
Chackman was born in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania and raised in Margate,
New Jersey. He received his Bachelor
of Arts degree from Dickinson College
in 1980 and his Juris Doctor degree
from the University of Miami, School
of Law, in 1983. Steven is Board Certified
by the Florida Bar in Civil Trial Law.
He is also AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Since admission to the Bar, Steve has
focused his practice on the defense of
insurance agents and brokers errors and
omissions claims, legal and other professional
malpractice, insurance coverage and bad
faith matters, premises liability, products
liability, and other commercial and complex
litigation matters.
Steve is a member of
the Florida Bar and is admitted to practice
before the United States District Court
for the Southern District of Florida. He
is also a member of the Trial Bar of the
United States District Court. In addition,
Steve is a member of the Dade County Bar
Association, the Broward County Bar Association,
the Florida Defense Lawyers Association,
the Defense Research Institute, the South
Florida Claims Association, and the Fort
Lauderdale Claims Association. Steve
has served on the Florida Bar Grievance
Committee. His work has led to numerous
public and private speaking engagements.
Steve and his wife, Ann, have four sons,
Richard, Michael, Brian and Robert, and one
daughter, Danielle and live in Hollywood,
Florida. |

Jonathan
G. Liss - Partner |
|
Jonathan
G. Liss was born and raised
in New York City. He attended the State
University of New York at Albany, where
he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in
1991 and the University of Miami School
of Law obtaining his Juris Doctor degree
in 1994.
In law school, he participated
in the University of Miami’s
highly regarded litigation skills program
and he achieved recognition in the
Annual Client Counseling Competition.
After graduating law school in 1994, he
was admitted to practice law in Florida,
and joined Bernstein & Chackman,
P.A., as an Associate. He was also
admitted to practice before the United
States District Court for the Southern
District of Florida, in 1995.
Jonathan
became a partner in the firm in 2001.
Jonathan
has handled and tried cases in state and
federal court, in the areas of insurance
coverage, premises liability, automobile
liability, personal injury protection,
uninsured motorist’s,
subrogation, professional negligence
and defamation.
He is a member of the
Defense Research Institute, Florida Defense
Lawyers Association, Broward County Bar
Association, and has lectured on various
topics related to insurance issues.
He is married
to wife and attorney/mediator, Geri Liss,
and resides with Geri and their three daughters
in Plantation. Jonathan is also interested
in music and athletics. He is individually rated as an “AV” peer reviewed attorney by Martindale Hubbell, for very high to preeminent legal ability and very high ethical standards.

Neil Rose was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1980 with a Political Science Degree. Neil earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida in 1993.
With 22 years of experience as a lawyer in Florida, Neil Rose, has a statewide appellate practice. Board Certified by the Florida Bar in Appellate Practice since 1994, Neil Rose has handled hundreds of appellate matters and has over 100 published appellate decisions to his credit. He has handled appeals in all five district courts of appeal and in the Supreme Court of Florida, as well as in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Neil Rose devotes his practice exclusively to appellate litigation and complex trial-level motions, assisting trial lawyers in court and handling referrals from attorneys and their clients throughout the state of Florida. Neil is the "best friend" of the trial lawyer, counseling trial lawyers on the creation and protection of an appellate record. He handles appellate litigation, including working with trial counsel to identify the issues on appeal, designating the record on appeal, prosecuting and defending appellate motions, researching and drafting appellate briefs and presenting oral arguments. Thomas A. Dinan
Associate |
|
Thomas A. Dinan was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended West Chester University and in May 2000 graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Political Science. He received his Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law in May 2003. Thomas has been admitted to practice in Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
After being admitted to the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars in October 2003, Thomas commenced his career as an Assistant District Attorney in suburban Philadelphia. There, he handled all types of cases, including assaults, narcotics trafficing, robberies and an attempted homicide.
After sitting for the Florida Bar in July 2004, and being admitted in January 2005, Thomas moved to Florida and continued his career as an Assistant State Attorney in Orlando.
Thomas’ current areas of practice include civil litigation, automobile liability and premises liability.
Thomas enjoys traveling to Europe, college football, reading and is a World War 2 history buff. |

Mark D. Goldstein

Mark D. Goldstein is a Florida native. He earned a Political Science degree from the University of Florida in 1995, and then earned a B.S. in Finance from the University of South Florida in 1999. In May 2002, he received his Juris Doctor from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis Missouri. While attending law school he was a Scholar in Law Recipient and served as Associate Editor of the Washington University Journal of Law and Policy. He was a finalist in the ABA Client Counsling Competition and a quarter-finalist in the Wiley Rutledge Moot Court competition. He also served as President of the Jewish Law Society.
Mark is a member of the Florida and Missouri bars. His primary areas of practice are automobile liability, premises liaiblity, and first and third party insurance matters.
Mark and his wife Debbie reside in Davie with their two daughters, Melissa and Rachel. In his spare time, Mark enjoys sculpting, reading cooking and playing golf. |

Robyn Lustgarten

Robyn Lustgarten was born and raised in New York. In 1996 she graudated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor Arts in Political Science. She received her Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern Univeristy in 1999. She was member of Law Review and graduated Magna Cum Laude. While in law school, Robyn served as a summer intern for the Honorable Wilke Ferguson and clerked in the Florida Supreme Court for Justice Barbara Pariente.
Robyn was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2000. Before joining the firm, Robyn focused on employment and commerical litigation. Her current areas of practice are appeals, civil litigation, and insurance coverage disputes.
When she’s not playing with her dog Chloe, Robyn enjoys watching movies, reading and spending quality time with her family and friends. |

Holly K. Miller

Holly K. Miller was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1990, she graduated from George Washington University with a B.S. in History. She received her Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University in 1994.
Holly was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1994 and in 1995 was admitted to the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bars. Prior to joining our firm, her focus was on general civil litigation. Her current practice areas include, first and third party insurance, premises liability, and automobile liability.
Holly lives in Miami Beach and enjoys water sports, attending sporting events and spending quality time with her family. |

Kiera L. O'Connell

Kiera L. O’Connell was raised in Middletown, New Jersey. While growing up, she was an active member of the United States Figure Skating Association.
Kiera attended the University of Florida where she received a B.A. in History. She continued her education at the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor. Kiera is a member of the Florida Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Miami-Dade County Bar Association.
Before joining the firm, Kiera focused on general litigation and appellate practice. At Bernstein, Chackman & Liss, her current areas of practice include first and third party insurance, premises liability, automobile liability, commercial general liability and insurance coverage disputes.
Kiera is an avid runner and a fan of Gator football. She resides in Hallandale Beach and enjoys spending time with family and friends. |

BONNIE
M. SACK - Associate |

Bonnie M.
Sack was born and raised
in Marlboro, New Jersey. In 1998, she
received her Bachelor of Arts degree
in English and Philosophy from Brandeis
University. Bonnie earned her Juris
Doctor degree from the University of
Miami School of Law in 2001 and became
a member of the Florida Bar in September
2002. Among other notable accomplishments,
Bonnie completed the pre-law program
at Brandeis, was an All-American soccer
player and was awarded an internship
as an assistant press secretary to
Donna Shalala at the U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services in Washinton,
D.C.
Bonnie’s areas of practice
include professional liability matters,
errors and omissions, directors and
officers, premises liability, first
and third party insurance matters,
general commercial liability and insurance
coverage disputes.
Bonnie’s interests
include tennis, golf, reading fiction,
writing poetry and traveling. She is
also an active community volunteer,
dedicating her spare time to tutoring
elementary school children in reading
and math. |
